The #33 R-Coin/Green Heart Partners Silverado had a rollercoaster event last Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Reaume was able to qualify in the 24th position out of 34 trucks who were also attempting to make the race. This result allowed the team to take the green lap for the first time ever in the Camping World Truck Series after narrowly missing the race at Daytona the previous week.
At the drop the the green lap Reaume quickly moved from the 24th to 17th before the end of stage 1. During Stage 2 Reaume struggled with an ill handling set of tires and dropped back into the 24th position.
With only 6 laps remaining in the race, Reaume lost control of his race truck and while spinning down the back stretch was struck by the #25 of Dalton Sargeant. Commenting on the unfortunate ending, Reaume exclaimed, “Super frustrating. I ran something like 14 consecutive races last year with little or no damage and we wrecked our first race out.”
The team planned on using that very truck the following week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. “I’ve never been afraid of adversity, we’ll go to work and overcome,” Reaume stated with resolve.
Fast forward 72 hours, and the Reaume Brothers Racing team had constructed a new truck and loaded it up for the 36hr journey to Las Vegas.
Crew chief Danny Glad commented that when the late Alan Kwuwikki faced similar challenges his response was always, “It will make for a better story in the end”.
And for Reaume Brothers Racing and Josh Reaume the story is getting better. Not only was the team able to overcome adversity following Atlanta but they also have a ‘gnarly’ new partner on the hood of the truck this weekend! The team is proud to announce that Gnarly Jerky will serve as the primary sponsor for the teams effort this weekend. In addition Gnarly Jerky will also be an associate sponsor for the 2018 season.
Gnarly Jerky’s humble beginnings began in a small kitchen in Thousand Oaks, California. It was in this kitchen where their Flavor Master, Dayna, began the jerky journey and took jerky to the next level. Stepping into a male dominated market might seem intimidating to some, but not to Dayna. Dayna has created a jerky that EXPLODES with unique flavors. So move over boys, there is a new jerky in town and its name is “Gnarly”.
Reaume practiced in the 24th position yesterday. Qualifying will hold today at 3:05pm PST with the green flag dropping for the NASCAR Stratosphere 200 at 6:00pm PST. Coverage will be live on FoxSports 1.
